As a career advisor I would stress the importance of interpersonal skills, but would also refer to them as soft skills. I would tell students the hard skills get you the interview but the soft skills get you the offer. I never considered the term soft as less important than hard, but I can see why people would think that. I compare it to software vs. hardware. We need them both to do our jobs.
