Change for the better

In order to live our best life, or create a better one, we should always be minding our wellbeing and doing our best to maintain and improve our quality of life. It may even seem overwhelming when we consider our careers, our relationships, and our overall health, especially at times when we may not feel like we have the best handle on life. We can choose to make incremental changes that can hopefully affect big change and help us to live our best life, or something close to it.

Have you ever made any small changes in your life that helped spark even bigger and/or more positive changes? It can serve as a domino effect of wellness that keeps us on a path of making smarter and healthier choices for ourselves. An example from my own experience is when I switched careers. I was a technical recruiter for ten years before I switched over to counseling. I was probably in recruiting for five years longer than I should have been. I was miserable at work, which caused me to become unhappy outside of work too. I needed a change.

One day while recruiting, my HR manager told me about a weekend retreat for high school students that helped them address teenage issues like self-esteem, peer pressure and social norms. I reluctantly decided to go on the retreat…
