“Even though you’re growing up, you should never stop having fun.”

- Nina Dobrev

Once we exit our teenage years we take on more responsibilities in our personal and professional lives. We learn that being a grown up requires us to stay committed to paying the bills and taking care of our own health and personal needs, while possibly raising families of our own. It can be a lot of work. It isn’t always fun and games. Sometimes, even our favorite activities can seem like a chore. For our own wellbeing, it’s important for us to remember to set aside time to have fun and enjoy life!

We know what it means to have a work-life balance. It has become a more popular term in the 24/7 world we live in, where working 9–5 Monday-Friday is not necessarily the norm anymore. While it is important to make sure our professional life is not invading too much on our personal life, it’s also important to make sure our personal life does not turn into a never-ending “To-do” list of chores, without carving out any fun and leisure time for ourselves. Burnout can happen just as easily in our personal lives as it can professionally.

We owe it to ourselves to make sure we are being proactive about our own self-care. That includes enjoying some of our “me time” and free time. To not have any time set aside to enjoy the fun side of life would be a disservice…
