“Audacity augments courage; hesitation, fear.”

- Publilius Syrus

Have you ever hesitated before commiting to something that took some guts to follow through on? It could be something big like marriage, or something with less risk like asking someone out on a date. Either way, hesitation is a natural reaction to making any decision that involves some risk of things not working out the way we planned. While hesitation may prevent us from making a poor decision, it can also prevent us from moving in the right direction for the wrong reasons.

I admit that I can be indecisive when exploring potential business opportunities or meeting new people. I think I focus too much on the right approach and not enough on when I’m actually going to do it. Sometimes I get to it and do it. Sometimes, my intentions get in the way of getting things done. It does not seem so much of a priority issue as it is a deer in the headlights issue. Instead of opting to walk from the shallow end, I’ll stand there at the deep end wondering if I’m ready to dive in. Sometimes I do. Sometimes I don’t.

My issue is I have been spending too much time debating and hesitating by the deep end without jumping in. I am committing to a new approach by taking baby steps from the shallow end. For me, it’s making minor commitments to grow the audience for Subatomic Zen…
